This is Afronaut Press
We publish fiction, non-fiction, and children’s books designed for the realities of how people read, learn, and access information in African communities today – creating culturally grounded publishing that reaches more readers, wherever
they are.
What we see
African publishing has a rich and deeply rooted history. Storytelling on this continent predates the printing press by centuries, and publishers across Africa have been doing vital work for generations.
But the wider industry – distribution, discoverability, digital access, and international rights – still hasn’t fully caught up. Too many important African stories do not travel far enough, and too many readers, both on the continent and beyond, still struggle to access books that reflect their realities, languages, and experiences.
We believe publishing today must think not only about books themselves, but about how stories are discovered, shared, understood, and carried across different reading environments..

About Us
We work within the African publishing ecosystem – adapting, co-publishing, creating, and distributing stories that deserve a wider audience.
Our approach combines publishing, storytelling, illustration, and communication design to create books that are culturally grounded, emotionally resonant, and accessible across different audiences and contexts.
We imagine readers in Lagos, Nairobi, Harare, or London picking up a book and recognising something deeply familiar: their neighbourhood, their family, their language, their humour, their world. That is what we are publishing towards. One story at a time.
